Carl Valentin Micra II Desktop Label Printer

The Carl Valentin Micra II is a desktop label printer and the successor to the Carl Valentin Micra. The Micra II can print labels using both thermal transfer and direct thermal methods, depending on the material used. As a desktop printer, it is suitable for smaller print volumes, takes up very little space, and is relatively inexpensive to purchase. Thanks to its rugged housing and attractive design, the Micra II can be used in virtually all areas of a business—from the warehouse to administration or in a retail location.
The Micra II is available in both 200 dpi and 300 dpi versions, with corresponding maximum print widths of 104 mm and 105.7 mm, respectively. It can process labels ranging from 25 to 118 mm in width and 25 to 762 mm in height. The Micra II can handle both inside and outside winding with equal ease. The core of the label rolls is also flexible and can be set to 25.4 mm, 38.1 mm, or even 76.2 mm, while the outer diameter of the roll may not exceed 127 mm. Additional media handling options are available for purchase, such as a cutter, peeler, and unwinding and rewinding devices, most of which are also compatible with the previous model.
The Micra II requires the transfer ribbon to be mounted on a 1-inch core (25.4 mm) with a maximum outer diameter of 68 mm, with the ink side facing outward. The transfer ribbon can be up to 110 mm wide and 300 m long, which minimizes downtime and thus increases productivity. The Micra II’s housing cover is generously sized, allowing for quick and easy replacement of label rolls and transfer ribbons. Thanks to its 32-bit RISC processor and 16 MB of RAM, the Micra II can quickly process the transmitted data and print labels at a speed of approximately 100 mm/sec. Available interfaces include a serial port, USB, and Ethernet.
Unlike its predecessor, the Micra, the Micra II no longer has a parallel port; instead, it comes standard with an Ethernet port. It also features a new CPU and supports ZPL emulation as standard; however, the Micra II no longer has an internal clock (RTC), so the time (if necessary) must be transmitted to the printer via the corresponding printing software. There are also minor differences in design: The control elements inside the Micra II are now green instead of red, and the membrane keypad on the side is blue instead of gray. It’s also important to note that the printheads for the Micra are not compatible with those of the Micra II.
